Saint Vincent and Grenadines – short description:

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a nation that is located in the Lesser Antilles chain. It has an area of about 389 square kilometers. Kingstown is the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the population of the nation is about 120,000 people. The country used to be a British as well as a French colony but now it is a member of CARICOM and the Commonwealth of Nations. The most important sector of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is agriculture. The services sector is also an important sector, especially the tourism industry.

After the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ was filmed in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the number of tourists to the country has increased significantly. The growth of the country has been because of the increase in tourism and also because of the activities in the construction sector. English is the official language of the country but many people in this nation also speak Vincentian Creole. There is a high rate of unemployment in the country and there is also a problem of population growth in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. There are about 118,149 people living in the country and the emigration rate is also quite high.
